Going West:
  • Citylink daily services between Galway and Connemara
    (via Moycullen, Rosscahill, Oughterard, Maam Cross , Recess, Canal Bridge , Clifden, Cleggan, Letterfrack)
  • Sleepzone Hostel Bus: targetted at backpackers, but open to anyone. Does a daily trip around the "Connemara Loop", stopping at lots of places (list coming soon).

Going North:
  • Burkes
    Daily (Mon-Sat) services between Galway and:
    Tuam
    (via Cloonflush, Cloonmore, Claretuam, Caherhugh, Caherlea, Cummer, Corofin X, Anbally, Currandrum, Knockdoe, Loughgeorge, Claregalway)
    Dunmore
    Milltown
    Headford - Shrule - Kilmaine - Ballinrobe
    (via Wakefield, Horsevally, Cloughanover, Grange, Corrandulla X, Cloonboo, Ballindooley)

  • Feda O'Donnell
    Daily services to Sligo and Donegal.
    Sunday 8pm leaves from Eyre Square, stop B. All others leave from Galway Cathedral.

    Thursday and Friday: From Galway to Castlebar – Westport, via Neale, Ballinrobe and Ballintubber)
    Sunday: from Castlebar to Galway 
    (via Ballintubber Ballinrobe and Neale) and (via Balla, Claremorris, Tuam)Sunday: from Galway – Castlebar (via Neale, Ballinrobe and Ballintubber)
  • Corduff Travel
    Aimed at students:  Various Fri and Sun services between Galway (NUIG, GMIT, Gort na Coirbe) and Belmullet, Castlebar, Westport.  Also some mid-week services. 
    Also some services from Co Mayo to Limerick have a pick-up/drop-off point in Oranmore.   See their website for details, phone to confirm.
  • Streamline
    Running Sept - May.   Service from Monaghan / Clones / Cavan to Galway (NUIG and GMIT) on Sunday evening, return service on Friday afternoon.
  • WestLink Coaches run student services (Fri / Sun) between Galway (GMIT and NUIG/Cathedral) and Drumshanbo, serving Castlerea, Boyle, Elphin, Carrick-on-Shannon, Mohill and Ballinamore


Going East
  • Brendan Boyle run the N63 Bus:
    Seven day a week service, between:
    Ballygar
    , Newbridge, Mountbellew, Moylough, Abbeyknockmoy, Turloughmore, Lackagh and Galway Cathedral
  • Mountbellew Bus Company
    Commuter bus (Mon-Fri) to and from Galway
    Leaves from Mountbellew.  Stops include  Moylough, Horseleap Cross, Abbeyknockmoy, Ballyglunin, Turloughmore and Lackagh. 

  • Farrell Travel:
    Mon-Sat service to/from Athenry, via NUIG, Woodquay, Galway Shopping Centre, GMIT.  
    Nightlink service Thurs-Sat nights.
  • Healy's:
    Mon-Sat, leaves from the STAD  bus stop on Eyre Square.
    Services from Loughrea via Ashlawn, Colstoken Cross, Ballymana, Craughwell, Coldwood, Moyvilla, Derrydonnell, Oranmore/Orantown - through to Galway, including GMIT, NUIG, Galway Clinic
  • Midland Bus Co
    Fri & Sun services, primarily for students.
    Athlone to Galway via Ballinasloe and Loughrea, and then return Galway to Athlone.
  • JJ Kavanach
    Friday service from NUIG/GMIT to Carlow via Nenagh, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Urlingford, Freshford, Kilkenny, Paulstown, Royal Oak.   Sunday - return journey.   (Term-time only)
  • South East (SE) Galway IRD - "The Local Bus" run a service from the Woodford/ Ballinakill area to Galway City on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.    Leaves Looscaun Church at 10.20am and Walsh’s Bar, Woodford at 10.30am.  Return leaves Galway City at 5pm.  Booking essential - contact 090-9741867.  


Going South
  • Citylink run regular services to Limerick, Cork
  • One option for certain routes is to connect with another bus company at Shannon Airport or Limerick:  for example JJ Kavanagh run a service from Shannon via Birdhill, Nenagh, Toomavara, Moneygall, Roscrea, Borris-in-Ossary, Mountrath, Portloise, Monasterverin and Kildare, and Dublin Coach run a service from Limerick City to Dublin airport, with stops in Kildare Village and Red Cow.
  • Lyons Travel: Friday & Sunday services for students  - Quilty, Mullagh, Milltown Malby, Inagh, Ennis to/from University of Limerick, Mary Imacculate, Limerick IT, NUIG and GMIT
  • Noel O’Shea runs student services from the Kilkee / Kilrush area to Galway, Limerick and Tralee.   No website - contact 0872550155 for details
  • Galway Bay Executive Travel run a daily return service from Galway to Lahinch (Co Clare), between April and October, with stops in Oranmore, Clarinbridge, Kinvara, Doorus Cross, Bellharbour, Ballyvaughan, Lisdoonvarna, Doolin / Doolin Pier, Cliffs of Moher, and Liscannor.  Targetted at tourists, but locals are welcome.
